420 and...

many of the poets here like to drink, have sex and indulge in other pleasures. how many of you fit in the sex and drugs and rock n’ roll lifestyle?

me, i’ve smoke a field worth of pot in my past but i grew out of it. i havent had any in years and years. i’d probably do it again in the right circumstances. i also enjoy a vicoden, darvocet or demerol when i can get them. i had knee surgery and only took tylenol while i recovered so i could enjoy the vicodens later.

white rabbit and mt, you seem to know bible stuff pretty good. can you think of passages that would make drug use sinful? if so, is rush’s activity then a sin?

Jeeze, I’m such a pansy when it comes to this that the stuff they gave me when i got my wisdom teeth out - I ended up on the floor about 15 minutes after taking it. After the first one, I learned to get my ass to a chair right away.

as far as the Bible...
the drugs we have today were not in existance back in Biblical times, so I can’t give you a passage that says "don’t do crack". However, it does say that people should avoid anything that brings harm to their bodies (1 Cor 6:20) and to not be involved with anything that is addicting (1 Cor 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19). The Bible also says to obey the laws of the country in which you reside (Rom 13:1-4). Drugs can cause harm, are addictive, and are illegal...so...yeah, it applies.

As far as Rush...well, not up to me to judge. =)

never done drugs, tried a cigarette only once. absolutely love the rest though!

btw, wouldn’t smoking (cigarettes) and alcohol be sinful too, since there’s no doubt they do harm to your body?

I guess thats where most of the fundamentalists get their ideals from. Look at mormons, amish and even southern baptists and that explains some of their beliefs.

As far as things like shrooms and reefer, they were around in biblical times. Amazonians drink kava root drinks and that f’s them up pretty good. Funny anout the rules of your country - many are made specifically from the bible, so it’s a pretty circular arguement! thx for the lesson MT.

And for the record, i’m 100 % street legal nowadays. And not (just) cuz of drug testing at work. Guess I grew out of that stuff. But if I do get painkillers for legit purposes, I’ll save a couple for recreational purposes!

420 stands for April 20th- national pot day. Also Hitler’s birthday and the date of Colombine.....

No drinking or drugs here- I was only drunk once in my life and that was an accident. No sex either- I’m boring.

But I do smoke at times- haven’t in maybe 3 months. I smoke a lot of cigarettes up at school and at parties and when I’m stressed.

Thanks Sugar & Fuz.....that explains why I didn’t understand it! It’s a different day in Ireland.....so in Ireland this thread would be "317 and ..." March 17th (St Patrick’s Day) is National Pot Day in Ireland.

There are lots of different stories of how 420 got started. Most "scholars" agree that a group of school kids would meet after school - at 4:20 to get high and then the slang formed. I think also that the national pot day thing started (4/20) after the term was established and that columbine was planned based on that. There is a few sites for girls who puff and strip - 420girls.com, and some others - they are interesting to say the least. I’m surprised that no one here smoked weed? Humph...

I guess im another one of the boring ones here too. Never tried a drug and honestly never had the desire too. I can get drunk with the best of them, and Im sure I’ve had some contact highs from concerts and crap like that but nothing myself. No-one ever believes me when it comes up cause im pretty crazy, its entertaining actually.

Not sure whether it was because I spent my childhood in rural England, but I never did any of the recreational drugs that most refer to - no desire to, either, swince I have seen the effects of it on people and, to be honest, don’t want to look or behave like that!

Sex? Well, I think there is enough evidence of my interest in THAT on this forum.

Rock and Roll? Well, I was in a Rock band for several years - played local bars, etc. loved that whole thing - just got tedius having to deal with the bar owners, though.

In terms of the biblical quotes, if anything that is potentially addicting is going to send you to straight to hell, then caffeine (coffee, chocolate, cola, etc), and gambling (including the state-run lotteries), as well as smoking and drinking....

Pothead for a while in College and then grew out of it... Too much of an addictive personality to try anything stronger.... Smoking and dip is the worst I get into now excluding alcohol..... I do enjoy when prescribed the occsioonal pain killer but try not to use as I hate my senses deadened......

Weed was never my forte, but Cain was a serious weakness. As I’ve matured I went from dope, to cigs, to cigars. Thank God I’ve finally quit cigarettes. So now, it’s SEX, CIGARS(and scotch), and ROCK n’ ROLL.

I used to do a lot of drugs but I have calmed down for the most part. I still like to smoke pot occasionally and I’ll do some coke every now and again. I had a huge meth addiction for about 6 years but one day I just decided it was time to stop. Meth is a rough drug and can ruin lives. Staying up for 3 -5 days can really mess you up mentally and physically. I consider myself lucky to be out of that lifestyle. During that time was my "sex and drugs and rock n’ roll lifestyle". Get high and go out to the clubs (whether it be music,strip,S&M or dance club). These days my wife and I are home bodies for the most part.

Prescription drugs are definitely fun. Still drinking and have sex - yeehaw!

I smoked marijuana this summer- started at the end of this past semester. It was fun at first, but the alteration of your mind got to me too much. I like to be in control completely. Won’t touch anything else, though- not even alcohol, really. i’m not all about the drugs that drastically change your behavior for the worst. I like to maintain my inhibitions.
