what are some of the best brewpubs you have been to?  they must brew their own beer onsite.
i was at one in anchorage, right on the bay, that was really good.  beer, food, atmosphere, everything.  i just can’t remember the name.

McMenamins brewpubs are fantastic. They are all over the Pacific Northwest. One of my favorites is High Street Brewery in Eugene, OR. It is an old house that they turned into a brewery - very comfortable. I used to live walking distance to it and you could bring jars and have them fill them from the taps and then bring them home!! McMenamins also have hotels on the grounds of some their breweries. I went to a Reggae Fest at one of these locations. A must for any beer connoisseur!! I will have to think about some others I have been to. There are a bunch up and down the West Coast that I have been to.

de is probably familar with a couple that are in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. I can’t remember names or if they are still even there. They made lighter beers compared to the darker heavier beers found in the Northwest. I guess you need that when your brewery is right next to the beach. Not everyone wants to come off the beach and drink a tasty porter or stout...but I do!

I’ll second the McMenamins. There’s also one in an old Masonic Lodge and another in a converted grade school with a movie theater. Those two are both hotels on top of it. How cool is that? Ashland Oregon has two good ones - Standing Stone Brewing Company and Siskyou Brew Pub, both excellent. Then there’s the Wynkoop in Denver (with the most amazing gorgonzola soup), and the Beer Works in Boston (which makes this bizarre but amazing blueberry beer and watermelon wheat). But for taste, Bear Republic in Healdsburg’s Racer 5 can’t be beat except maybe by Russian River Brewing’s Pliiny the Elder. The beer all along the west coast brewpubs in northern CA, OR, and western WA is just off the map great.
