The first major segment uh da speech system be da subglottal system. This subglottal system comprises da lungs, diaphragm an trachea.
The lungs is basically a pair uh balloon-like sacs dat inflate or deflate by da action uh da diaphragm, a muscle just under da lungs, attached to them. When da diaphragm be lowered, da lungs inflate, an when da diaphragm be raised, air be pressed out uh da lungs, allowen them to deflate.
When dis air be pressed out uh da lungs, air travels up da trachea, or windpipe, to da larynx, da next major segment uh da speech system.
